Male header pin is a type of electrical connector consists of rows of the male connector. The pins are inserted to PCB or other board to prevent damage of wires and cables which cannot directly soldered on PCB.
A 40 pin male header is a form of electrical connector, often associated with ribbon cable connector. It consists of one or more rows of pins typically spaced 0.1 inches (2.54 mm) apart, but sometimes 2 millimetres (0.079 in) or 0.05 inches (1.27 mm) is used as well. In addition to being used to connect to a ribbon cable connector, pin headers often also function as recipients for jumpers. The most common jumper spacing is 0.1 inches (2.54 mm) spacing, though 2 millimetres (0.079 in) is sometimes used in smaller products.
